While I'm Away...

...you could be writing.

You could let me know how much you've written, if you liked (I've written two articles this week, a handful of rough blog posts, and about 3,000 words of fiction, none of which are on my computer yet).

And if you spot any interesting publishing-related articles or blog posts, please post links here so I can catch up with them once I'm back to full strength. I am SO VERY BORED with not being able to play on the internet, watch TV, or read. It would make me very happy to come back here and find all sorts of juicy links.

I had a slightly mad idea last night, that while I'm off work I should try to write at least one publishable piece a day - a combination of articles and short stories. Then I remembered that I have a novel to get to submittable standard during the same period of time, and that for at least some of that time I'm going to be recovering from a general anaesthetic ... still, it's good to have goals.

Hope you're better and back on-line properly soon. We miss you.

I've written quite a lot this week and feel better for it!

There's another interesting published link on Nathan Bransford's blog.

Hope you're back soon :o)

Should be 'publishing' - sorry!

I've just signed a publishing contract! It's cheered me up and proved that there are still opportunites for new writers out there. You can read the press release here, if you're interested;

Or click on my name for more details on my blog.

Best wishes to you; I hope you're on the mend.

Hey ChrisH, congratulations many times over! That is way exciting. I'll trip over to your blog to find out what your book's about.

I guess this (from the Rejectionist) is only loosely industry-related - but it's the funniest thing I've seen in a while and will hopefully cheer you up. (Also I'm proud to say I appear several times on the list!)

Hi Jane,
I guess you've probably had loads, but I've recognised your blog on mine with an award.

I've finally jumped out of a writing funk and now I'm wrapping up a very important plot point in my novel. Hope to tie things together very soon so I can get to the end already. :)

No juicy links from me though, but if I find something, I'll pass it your way.

I think Jane needs chocolate but I don't know her address. Virtual chocolate anyway Jane!

I'm taking a mulled wine & praline chocolate break from my long-term WIP, but I have just written up a fantastic interview with a self-published author that will be going out on my blog in January.

And many congratulations to ChrisH.

Jane, your blog is on my blogroll - I came to it via Sally Zigmond - not only do I enjoy her blog but she was kind enough to give my novel a brilliant review in QWF magazine some years back. I'm not getting much writing done just now but have been shortlisted in this year's Bridport Prize which has given me a lift. I've been running my blog since 2007 and have loved meeting people out in the blogosphere - there's so much sympathy, fellowship and sharing of information - and, given how risk averse publishers are, so much freedom and spontaneity. I hope you'll take a look at my blog http://literascribe.blogspot.com and my website www.fictionfire.co.uk - and I hope your eye troubles settle soon.

Hello lovely Jane and I hope you are fully back with us very soon. We miss you! If you really want to know what I've been writing: I'm three difficult chapters into my next novel, with lots of excitement on the part of my editor and agent, but it feels like pulling teeth because my mind is also partly on three impending property transactions and my new business, Pen2Publication, which has got off to a busy start. And then there's Christmas... I hope you have a lovely one, but I'll be in touch before then anyway. Lots of love and well-wishing Nx

essygie - thanks for that link! I'm planning to show it to my friends some time, because I think we all qualify for various reasons.

Jane : Hope you're doing well and that you have a great Christmas. I haven't had the time to write any fiction, but I wrote answers for a microbiology exam last week, so I hope that counts. :)

I've been eating way too many holiday treats but still writing. One essay and one poem in the last few days. {Need to write so much more. That will be my new year's resolution.}

It's not really publishing, but it's really cool: old stuff that has fallen off the radar.

I just found out that my novel, Beachcombing, is long-listed for the RNA's romantic novel of the year award. Am pleased, to say nothing of gobsmacked. I had no idea it even been entered.

I have not written a word this week. Having been stuck in consultingland since early November, I am completely behind with my novel and trying to catch up on Christmas as fast as I can. Thinking of you and your eyes, and praying for all to be well.
