Now Charlie Needs Our Help

Now that we've found Brenda Carter, we need to find someone else. Someone who could offer Charlie a lovely new home.

Charlie is an eight-year-old neutered male cat, who looks to me as though he contains a fair amount of Maine Coon heritage, and here he is in his sex-kitten pose. Charlie is sociable, happy, and clean around the house, but sadly he needs a new home as his owner is having to move to a new home where she can no longer keep him. Charlie likes to go out, so needs a home where he'll be safe from traffic. He has a slightly runny eye as he had cat-flu when he was a kitten, but he is otherwise fit and well. As you can see from the photograph he is a nice clean boy who enjoys a bath (so long as you remember not to put any water in it) and he has an oversized joke tail which he wears to cheer everyone up.

He lives in Leicestershire at the moment, and at a push I can collect him from there and get him to Leeds, Sheffield or Manchester if that would help.

Can anyone offer Charlie the loving, appreciative home that he so richly deserves?

Aw, what a love. I'd have him if I could!

He looks adorable!
Unfortunately, I don't think he'd like the plane trip over to DC.
I hope he finds a happy home just right for him and his tail :)

Have two persians (the fluff!) but have retweeted in hope.

I shared on my facebook to help spread the word. I hope he finds a new home.

Oh he's gorgeous! I live in Bournemouth with two tabbies so am unsuitable. Where's Helen NM? She's got 4 cats, must have room for another one, especially one with such a magnificent tail...

Poor dear, he looks like such a love.

I also offer transport services in case someone from Cambridgeshire area wants to give him a home but cannot drive up to get him.

Awww! What a handsome guy! :D Unfortunately, I live in the US, or I'd adopt him. I retweeted, though.

Good luck, Charlie!

Oh Charlie.

I wish, wish, wish I could have him. I really wish I could. More than anything.

But - I am so sorry - but for now my whole time and life is devoted to the last of my elderly cats who is really quite ill. So I can't - I really would - I'd even take a trip up there from down here (I'm in Herts) to collect him. I really, really would. How awful for his soon to be ex-owner though.

:-(

I hope he finds a beautiful and loving home.

Take care
x

He's beautiful. He reminds me so much of a very special cat I knew and loved. I do hope he finds a lovely home.

He is utterly gorgeous. Sadly I don't think my four westies would appreciate the arrival of a pussycat, and Charlie would find it extremely stressful.

Very handsome! In the US so am not a candidate.Hope he finds a good home soon.

A friend of mine has posted this link on the UK Cats forum, Jane, so unless Charlie is sorted, with any luck someone will come forward and offer him a home.

Quillers, that's great--thank you.

Charlie's owner (a prizewinning writer) has to make a sudden and unexpected house-move. She's very upset to have to part with him, but knows it'll be better for him if she does. This really is so sad, and I am sure she'll be very touched by everyone's kind words.

He's a beautiful boy and I would if I could, but I think my four would gang up on a newcomer. Hope he finds somewhere soon x

Interesting sort of publisher you have here. Meow Books maybe, or Cat on Hot Tin-roof Company.

I look forward to reading your next pawing.

Hope you find a good home for him.

Part of me wants to know if he'll get on with a dog. And part of me says, No, you have three cats already and your house is in the middle of a six-month renovation and your family would kick you out if you added another furbaby now!

But he's such a lovely cat. I really, really wish I could have him!

Kate, until recently Charlie lived with a border collie and as far as I know got on fine with her. He currently shares his home with an elderly female cat and is fine with her too.

If there's any chance you could take him on, do consider him, please. Time is running out for him, and my friend is desperate to find him a safe place to live.

Kate Johnson said...

But what's going to happen to the elderly female cat?

If I thought I could persuade my parents I'd say yes, but it doesn't seem likely. As I said, we already have three cats and a demon puppy, and the house is a building site.

Even if my mother is a REALLY soft touch.

I could take him. I live on a smallholding near Durham/Newcastle but if somebody could drop him off here he would be welcome. We have one indoor cat and an outdoor feral colony (placed here by CPL, same as the last colony of cats who then became tame house pets).

I'm very pleased to say that we now have a tentative offer of a home for Charlie. It's not certain: but it's something. Keep your fingers crossed, everyone, and if you can still offer him a home do let me know in case this current one falls through.

Thank you, all, for your support. It has meant a lot, and both I and Charlie's current owner are very grateful indeed.

(And don't worry about the elderly female cat who Charlie lives with at the moment: she's already sorted, I think.)

I'm so glad, on both counts. If I was the decision-maker in my house then Charlie would definitely be welcome; but my previous pet acquisitions (such as the Demon Puppy) have unfortunately not made me popular!

I do hope Charlie has a wonderful home life from now on, and that his previous owner (pet? slave?) doesn't miss him too terribly. He does seems a wonderful cat.

if he wanted a home just outside of DC, I'd take him, regardless of how mad my 3 would be at me. We miss OUR Maine Coon terribly. And he looks to be an absolute doll.

Hi

If Charlie still needs a home, I'm more than willing if he'd have me?

If he's found his forever home then I'm so happy for him!

Thanks

Old Kitty, Charlie is still looking for a new home so if you're serious, do please email me: "hprw at tesco dot net" will do it. I'd love to hear from you.

It looks as though Charlie might have found himself a new home with Old Kitty: please go and check her blog now, to read the happy news.

Much love and concern also goes to his current owner, who has made the brave decision to let him go. She deserves a lot of admiration for that.
