My computer is struggling again: it seems that my hard drive is failing.
I've got plans for a replacement, which shouldn't take me too long to arrange: what will cause problems, though, is updating all my drivers and the operating system: downloads take AGES on dial-up.
I'll get it done as soon as I can: but it might well be a few days before I'm properly back online. Meanwhile, enjoy the few posts I've already scheduled, and play nicely while I'm gone.

I promise not to chase any mice or fight with any other cats. Good luck!
Jane, if you fancy letting the lunatics take over the asylum whilst you're gone...
Seriously, VERY BEST WISHES. I know just what an almight nuisance this kind of thing can be!!
Good luck with the migration. It might be worth burning a CD-ROM or two with what you need. That might save a bit of downloading.
Better than a CD-ROM would be a flash drive. 8Gb memory costs about 12 quid; 16Gb costs 18 quid. They slot into a UBS port and can be carried around on a key ring. Wonderful things.
I'm back, but not at full speed: I've not transferred anything over to this new computer yet, so while I can receive emails I can't send them to most of you as I don't have your email addresses on the hard drive yet.
This will be sorted soon: better than a CD or a flash drive, I have a USB hard drive caddy so can take the backup drive out of my old computer and pipe it all across onto the new one. Easy-peasy, once I get the time to do it! But than you, boys and Cat, for your concern. I am very grateful.
