These Things Make Me Happy!

Daniel Blythe, who comments here regularly and has a two-part series due to appear on this blog as soon as I get my act together and schedule it, has a new book out. It's called Autonomy, it's a Dr Who novel, and I think it's currently available at Waterstone's in a three-for-two offer. Buy yourself a copy now, before I rush out and buy them all in a fan-girl frenzy.

As if that wasn't enough, I heard yesterday that Marian Perera, who blogs at Flights of Fancy (which is a lovely blog full of writing help and scam-busting advice) has signed her first book contract: her novel Before the Storm will be published by Samain Publishing.

All this, and it's nearly the end of the summer holidays, too. No wonder I'm grinning.

Hooray! These things make me happy too. And I will indeed go and get my Autonomy copy because D was too modest to remind me himself, which makes me like him even more, cos he easily could have bombraded me with emails and Facebook messages, and then I might not have done ...

Oh, how I adore hearing good news like new releases and new contracts. I had the happy happy joy joy job of calling a wonderful author Friday night to offer her a contract for publication. These are the times that I love my job more than the beagle's margaritas.

Doctor Who: Autonomy? £5.49 from Amazon.

A picture of David Tennant greeting you first thing in the morning? Priceless!

Thanks very much, Jane! I'm glad you like the blog, too.

Somehow, seeing the news on your blog made it feel real and official: the news is now out of my hands and on the wild wide Internet. It's unnerving, but in a wonderful way.

And congratulations to Daniel Blythe on the release of Autonomy! Though I'm not sure which Doctor that is. I watched the show right up till Colin Baker appeared.

And a congratulatory purr to the humans from me too.
Apart from isolated episodes I only ever saw the Tom Baker series of Dr Who - but that had some wonderful puns and one-liners in it. Need more of it!

Just curious here. Is it too late to trade in on my love for Antonio Banderas for David Tennant? Just checking, since I'm filling out my Christmas list...

Jane - thanks for the plug!

Marian - the book features David Tennant as the tenth (most recent) Doctor. Although the Autons, who appear in the book (it's a bit difficult to keep that as a surprise) first appeared in 1970 (and again in 1971) with Jon Pertwee and in 2005 with Christoper Eccleston.

"Have you met David Tennant?" is the question I get asked more than any other at schools. I have met five Doctors, but not him as yet!!

Wonderful - congratulations!!

I must say the huge dashing icture of David Tennant on the front doesn't diminish the book's appeal!!
