The Deathwatch Dash

Nicola Morgan is today hoping to set the world record for the greatest number of separate school-talks given by one author in one day, by talking at six different schools about her latest book, Deathwatch.

I bet she wears gorgeous boots to do it in, too.

Good luck, Nicola. Remember to eat plenty of chocolate through the day, or even you might begin to fade.

I hope she's not having to do the driving, too ;)

I wonder if Nicola's finished Dashing yet, or if she's still reading to a crowd of exhausted children? I imagine her striding forth in her Dash-bedraggled boots shouting "Just one more school!" in a rather hoarse voice, signing books as she goes.

Hello!! I survived. No voice loss. Great boots (the turquoise ones). Great kids. Couple of surreal moments - like being locked into a school playground (what kind of school has to lock the playground to keep kids in??) and me running through the school (in turquoise boots) trying to finding the janiotr and only finding a really angry secretary who couldn't understand why I wanted to get out (either that or she was jealous of my imminent escape; and Vanessa (bookseller) arriving in my house soaked to the skin and asking for my hairdryer. All with the added stress of having very ill daughter at home so complicated arrangements of care. Not to mention the dog's ears ... Oh gosh. But all done. World record duly set, and if anyone tries to break it they are welcome to it. (Joanna, no, I wasn't driving!)

Glad you survived, Nicola! Unfortunately, locking the kids into the playground is more and more common these days. Prevents them avoiding bullies and school dinners. Or something.
