Merry Christmas!

So far today I've been given three (THREE!) boxes of Thornton's chocolates, four bottles of Champagne, and one pair of slippers (it's OK, I can take those back).

I have eaten none of the chocolates but I have drunk one of the bottles of Champagne and it's gone down a treat, I can tell you.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you who read my blog and frankly, I'm amazed that so many of you do: my visit-count stands at 14,536 right now, which is about 14,532 more visitors than I expected I'd get in my first six months. Thank you all for your support and kind words; and thank you, especially, to those of you who have disagreed with me and made me up my game. It's been brilliant, and I couldn't have done this without you.

Now fill my glass up, someone, and go and baste my turkey or my children are going to starve.

Warm wishes, coming your way!

Just back from a three-mile walk. It's amazing how exercise and cold weather can get rid of that nice warm feeling that results from Champagne.

Happy Chritmas, both of you. And what on earth are you doing looking at my blog on a day like today?

Hope you've got some champagne left for today.

Plenty, thank you: I bought half a dozen bottles last week, just to make sure.

I think it's going to take me until next Christmas to clean up after yesterday. You wouldn't believe how much washing-up there is to do downstairs... the kitchen, sitting room and bedrooms are covered in a rubble of wrapping paper, tinsel and bits of toys; the back hallway is packed to the ceiling with empty cardboard boxes.

But my children are playing quietly, building Meccano things, my husband is sleeping, and I've written 1,500 words this morning, all on my own in the quiet, sleeping house. Life is good.

Ah, Jane, it was a day full of mimosas for me, hic, and fondue. You're a true gem, m'dear. Should I ever make it to the UK, you're my first stop, so keep the blender filled with margaritas!

I hope you realise, Lynne, that, margaritas or no margaritas, Jane's abode is a cross between Wuthering Heights and Count Dracula's Castle (with cats).

Lynn, you're welcome here any time but I must warn you, if you think your beagle is bad you should meet my dog Jack (the world's most disgusting dog). He'll have you running screaming for the hills.

And Sally, you say that about my house like it's a bad thing...!

I used to have Meccano. Loved to build things with wheels. Made my first pair of roller skates out of Meccano - last year.
I've got a case of Chocolate Ale (a '76 - Fuggles hops - south side of the slope)and a straight glass - I'm totally set up for the new year.
We have a cat. She's called Bagpuss - Pussy, for short.

Hi Jane, I don't know why my post came up as 'Anonymous' - maybe it was the mention of Chocolate Ale.
